"INTENTIONAL"

by dharris 17. June 2010 15:50

This week was a "Busy" week with a "capital B-double-exclamation-mark"!!  It was full of great things, some interruptions, several appointments, some disappointments, two graduations, my "Grammy day", a funeral, a promotion, my 4 year old grandson's birthday party, more women to add to summer study (yeah!), bon voyages, meetings, daughter's senior prom (beautiful), and then the usual keeping up with the challenges of everyday life.  So needless to say, I had to be "intentional" to have my quiet time.   It won't happen unless I am intentional to give priority to the Priority in my life!

Early on in our book, Kay mentioned that "it takes 21 days of repetition to form a habit" (pg 25).  I would like to launch a "21 day challenge"!  Of course since we are doing an "on your own" study, feel free to pick the start date that is best for you and go for it!   Or since accountability is a such a great proponent for success, maybe do it with a friend or loved one!!  We do it for other things -- let's do it for our quiet time!

In April I read a quote that I have wanted to share with all of you since then, waiting for the appropriate moment!  Sarah Young in her devotional, Jesus Calling, writes, "Stillness of soul is increasingly rare in this world addicted to speed and noise.  I am pleased with your desire to create a quiet space where you and I can meet.  Don't be discouraged by the difficulty of achieving this goal.  I monitor all your efforts and am blessed by each of your attempts to seek My Face."  Let's please our Heavenly Father who desires for us to "be still and know that He is God," and show Him our "stillness of soul" which is totally uncharacteristic and basically foreign to us for the most part!

I will be praying this week that each one of you will take up the "21 day challenge", and in doing so, finding that you are just a little better tuned in to that still small voice that calls you to "come away"!  Whatever you have to do, however you have to do it, don't miss out on this incredible discipline to glean from the Master by on purpose, intentionally, removing yourself from all the "Busy!!" to meet with Him!  I absolutely love II Chronicles 16:9 that says "God's eyes search to and fro throughout the earth, looking for one whose heart is seeking Him!"  May it be you (and me!)

Intentionally seeking Him,

Debbie Harris

Some blogging 101 -- each week there will be a title and comments will line up under that title all week.  The comments will remain under that title, so there are 6 comments under the first title, which you can get to by clicking the very first line "QUIET TIME AGAIN in SUMMER 10" which will take you back to the first blog, along with the 6 comments.  Now when women comment THIS week, the comments will all line up under this second title "Intentional" and will remain there all week, until there is a THIRD title.  Does that help?????

Someone gave me a suggestion (see below) in regards to another problem I had.  I switched to Safari and I'm not having any problems now.

Are you using Internet Explorer by any chance? Can you please try Firefox, Safari or Chrome while we're narrowing down this problem?

I accept your challenge Debbie to be intentional in my priorities. I will begin today. On page 109 Kay states that "Rejoicing is a matter of obedience". I choose to be obedient today and rejoice in my Savior!

I accept the challenge! I have tons of time right now since i just had shoulder surgery on the 15th, my problem is i lack energy and motivation (not to mention, I'm in pain). writing and typing left-handed is a challenge, too. I'm making some progress with the pain so there is hope, of course. Please pray for successful healing and MUCH patience. I would appreciate it so much! My Shadow Mt. sisters are such faithful prayer warriors!! WOOO HOOO to you all! I must say, I realize that there are so many more devastating needs out there than mine and I have so much to be grateful for (praise the Lord), but I believe the Lord cares about the small details as well as the large problems in our lives. Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Today I rest in knowing that God does not have plans to hurt me but to grow me into a deeper relationship with Him! He wants me to understand His great love for me…something that I have always dismissed and told myself that because I do not have a father that is here for me, I can never understand this great love. I have had a glimpse of this love over the last few days. This is unchartered territory for me! It has always been easier to accept that since I have never had it, I never will. Yes, I had accepted the lies of Satan and believe that it is because I am a failure-not anymore! Today I KNOW that my Jesus is very intentional in loving me. I need to let go of everything I’ve known to be love and let Him, the author of love, love me.

I cannot begin to explain what this study is doing to my heart and my relationship with God! He is so good!!!

Onto day 4 of my 21 day challenge! ;o)

You go girl!  The challenge is there for the taking!!  It takes 21 days to form a habit -- and a habit of sitting at the feet of Jesus can only produce GOOD things!!!

Time spent with the Lord even in the busiest of times can prove to be so rewarding!  He's always there waiting for our attention we never have to search for a time that He is too busy for us!  He is a patient and loving God waiting for our time with Him to be wonderfully fruitful.

I am loving this book!!! Each chapter, while very quickly read (short chapters) are packing a might punch! I have been so richly blessed. The words in the pages just jump out as though speaking directly and specifically to me. I am always on the run, extremely busy, lots to do and not enough hours in the day to do it all, so this book came just in time, God's timing is excellent, I am able to be still 'intentionally' and be silent to 'hear Him' 'intentionally' and HE has made HIS presence known to me. Thus doing all things as unto the Lord has been such a joyful and (like Ms. Kelly said) 'wonderfully fruitful' for me & within me.  I praise you Lord. I love you Lord!!!
